Breaking Points: Podcast Populists

Breaking Points is a political news and opinion show launched in 2021 by Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti, both former hosts of The Hill’s Rising. The show offers a unique left-right populist perspective, aiming to provide viewers with analysis free from corporate media influence. By addressing topics often overlooked by mainstream outlets, Breaking Points seeks to educate its audience outside of mainstream thought. In addition to this unique coverage the show also focuses on daily news, culture, and political events.

The show’s format includes monologues, interviews, and panel discussions, covering issues such as economic inequality, foreign policy, and media criticism among other topics. Breaking Points has maintained a growing following by putting its shows out on various media platforms including podcast and video platforms.

As it continues to grow, Breaking Points will likely expand its content offerings and deepen its investigative reporting in addition to continuing to run their main political podcast. The show’s commitment to challenging establishment narratives will likely cement its position in new media as new alternative media slowly overtakes legacy media outlets.

  1. I liked this as an excellent analysis of what makes Breaking Points stand out. I like that you mentioned they are introducing both left and right perspectives without the corporate spin that you normally get in mainstream news. It is refreshing to have a show that discusses issues like economic disparity and foreign policy in a less filtered and more genuine way. I agree with you that with other media always growing, shows like Breaking Points are going to have more and more to contribute to the way individuals stay informed. You gave excellent reasons for describing why the show has so much appeal with its viewers.

  2. This analysis of the content is extremely smooth. I haven't heard of the content , but I am interested in where the content can go. It's exciting to see content from people who want to address every topic and not the same few.

  3. Breaking Points seems like a solid alternative to mainstream news. I like that it brings both left and right views and focuses on real issues like inequality and media bias. It’s also great they’re using podcasts and videos to reach more people, especially as more folks move away from traditional news.
