Julio Rosas: Independent Journalist

 One of the best ways to access information without corporate media influence is Substack, as discussed in earlier blogs Substack is a platform where people can subscribe to individual reporters supporting them directly. This allows reporters to focus on specific stories and issues without the massive overhead and rushed schedules they would otherwise experience at legacy outlets. One of the fastest rising journalists in this field is Julio Rosas, Rosas is a former U.S. marine and currently works as an independent on the ground reporter where he personally covers riots, border issues, and protests in addition to other news items. Rosas currently maintains a Substack titled Mostly Peaceful Media where he primarily covers border issues. 

Rosas's first major breakthrough came with his book on the 2020 BLM riots titled "Fiery But Mostly Peaceful: The 2020 Riots and the Gaslighting of America." The book, in conjunction with his on the ground reporting, showed the scope and scale of the 2020 riots and Rosas documented the damage caused to many American cities first hand. The title for the book stems from a CNN chyron that described the BLM riots in Minneapolis as "fiery but mostly peaceful" despite the riots being intensely violent. Furthermore, Rosas covered the one sided and often disingenuous coverage put out by legacy media outlets surrounding the 2020 riots and backed up his claims with photos and videos of on the ground violence. 

In addition to his online newsletter Rosas produces and maintains a podcast titled "mostly peaceful" where he offers his perspective on daily news in the context of being a field reporter and veteran. In order to have access to more in-depth reporting and special coverage individuals can subscribe to his Substack. With the continued decline of legacy corporate media field reporters such as Rosas will only continue to grow in popularity since they offer perspectives that aren't tainted by advertising dollars or legacy outlet political interests.

Prager University: Challenging the Mainstream

 Prager University was founded in 2009 by Dennis Prager and Allen Estrin, and their mission statement was to challenge modern academia and provide a conservative alternative. Prager and Estrin saw the majority of colleges being left leaning as an ideological problem because in their opinion college is supposed to be a place where a student is exposed to wide ranging viewpoints not a place where they are indoctrinated in a single way of thinking. Prager University challenges brick and mortar college institutions by offering short easily digestible videos on a number of topics such as politics, history, economics, culture, news of the day, and even philosophy. 

The popularity PragerU has gained from these videos is essential to their current trajectory. The videos are often around the 5 minute mark and center on providing a conservative viewpoint on the topic being covered in the video. Because their videos are so short they are easily digestible and shareable across platforms especially on social media. Furthermore, this video style has been coupled with animation and professional level video production which gives the videos even higher quality both educationally and optically. PragerU has also partnered with various conservative personalities and companies in order to broaden their reach and increase their own audience. 

Currently PragerU is expanding and producing media such as kids content and podcasts which they put out on their Youtube channel, website, and app. In the future PragerU will continue to grow as sentiment around American universities continues to drop over their one sided viewpoints and stifling of other more conservative viewpoints.
